The temple is open daily from 5:00 AM–1:00 PM and 3:00 PM–9:00 PM. Most pilgrims spend 2–5 hours for the ritual bath, darshan, and a walk through the temple's famous corridor.
How a typical visit unfolds
Agni Theertham
Pilgrims begin with a ritual dip in the sea just outside the East Gate.
The 22-Well Bath
Temple attendants pour water from each of the 22 sacred wells over devotees, in sequence.
Darshan & the Corridor
Devotees proceed to the inner sanctum for darshan, then walk the 1,000m+ pillared corridor.
Reserve where you can
Bookings for special darshan slots are available online via the official Tamil Nadu HR&CE portal or at the temple's ticket counters, subject to availability. It's worth booking ahead during weekends, festivals, and peak season.
Early morning or evening aarti
5–7 AM is ideal for the Spatika Lingam darshan and a quieter sea bath, while 6:30 PM brings the Sandhya Aarti — both offer a calmer experience than the midday hours.
