Three ways to arrive
By Air
Rameshwaram has no commercial airport. The nearest is Madurai International Airport (IXM), about 170–180 km away — a 3 to 3.5-hour drive. Madurai has regular domestic flights from major Indian cities.
By Train
Rameswaram Railway Station (RMM) is about 1 km from the main temple — the most convenient arrival point for pilgrims, with direct trains from Chennai, Madurai, Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Trichy.
By Road
Accessible via NH 87/49, crossing the Pamban Road Bridge onto the island. Madurai to Rameshwaram is about 170 km (3.5–4 hrs); Chennai is about 570 km (10–12 hrs); Kanyakumari is about 300 km (6–7 hrs).
