DWARKA

The Dham of Surrender & Purification of Desires — Krishna's Golden Abode

West India, Gujarat

🛕 About the Temple

Dwarka, located along the magnificent Arabian Sea, literally translates to "Door to Liberation". It is a place where you surrender your own internal kingdom and purify desires — where the ego finally stops claiming to be the king of its own life, sets down the exhausting burden of self-rule, and discovers the profound relief of recognizing that you were always the devotee, and God has been waiting at that gate for you since before you began your journey…

According to legends, Dwarka’s spectacular city was built by Lord Krishna himself, on the western tip of India. Steeped in rich mythological grandeur, visiting the Dwarkadhish Temple feels like stepping back in time, where the sound of the ocean merges with the rhythmic chants echoing within the temple walls…

Located in the city is also the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga: one of the 12 main Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India. It is an optional visit.

🌟 What Happens When You Visit Dwarka

According to the Vishnu Purana and Bhagavata Purana:

  • ✦ Dwarka is called Mokshapuri — the city of liberation. Simply being present in Dwarka cleanses lifelong sins
  • ✦ The Bhagavata Purana states: one who sees the Dwarkadhish with devotion will never be reborn in a lower life form
  • ✦ It is believed that Krishna himself gazes back at you during darshan in Dwarka — unlike other temples, the four-armed form here is said to make eye contact with each devotee individually
